7/31/2023 0 Comments Tiny balls of light during day![]() I think he knew that it could be an issue, because if Dumbledore wasn't sure, and we know Ron wasn't sure, then I'm sure plenty of people thought they might be interested in each other. Remember when Dumbledore, in HBP, asked Harry if he and Hermione were more than friends in a way? We know by then he knew he would die and that he was planning for Harry and the other 2 to be with him to go on the horcrux hunt. I had always wondered why and how Dumbledore knew Ron might need to find his way back. It brought something to mind from before. I'm actually on a reread of DH now and just read the Dumbledore will chapter. I think the sad subtext is that Dumbledore himself never really had anyone to use it on himself. It would let the beholder hear their person, and would lead them to that person if they felt the need to go to their aide. It would be activated by that person uttering the name of the holder of the deluminator. That it would help one find the light of their life, their most loved person, when that person needed their help. I think when he designed the deluminator, he wanted it to have a secret purpose. I think after what happened with his family, Dumbledore spent a lot of time studying the magical power of love. It was also designed to find the light of one's life. My take on it is that as it was Dumbledore's own invention, it seemed on the surface to have one purpose: to turn on and turn off light, but actually had a deeper purpose. I never fully understood it and I always felt that was one of the most beautiful moments in the series. Welcome our new Moderator: Mathias_Greyjoy! Harry Potter Read-Alongs: The Master List OR use >!
